Hi All,
My plant is getting ready to implement a TPM program.
To help us learn we are interested in visiting a plant that has a good TPM program (peferably in the north east).
Does anyone know of such a plant?

In addition to recommendations from our forums participants, you may also want to look into the LEI Connection Center.
This is a section of our site where people opt-in to be contacted. You can search for people by region, and since everyone has opted in as willing to be contacted, you may find it an easy way to search for people.

Lets see if this works! I will attach 2 close out presentations which have a summary of what we did. The 2012 presentation has a couple of enhancements from our initial roll out in 2009. Always learning!!

Dave,
These look great. I appreciate your response.
A couple follow up questions:
1) how did you determine that you wanted to start with these machines?
2) did you include any support type equipement or other systems (ie, things that you do not directly make product on) in your TPM program?
3) did the TPM system inlcude tasks for the operators (autonomous maintenance), not just TPM tasks for Maintenace personnel?
4) who did the training? where were they trained?

The TPM system looks great!
I will take a previous poster's comment and go with it. One of the final steps to atonomating the process would be to implement and owner operator system. It works great at our site. It allows the operator to take charge in the care of their machine. We are finding that they will take the initiative to fix something if they are already involved in TPM.
At the same time our site could benefit a lot from how easy you made it.

Steve:
1) We looked at the machines that needed the highest reliable up-time, and the machines that had the historically worst maintenance downtime issues (for the most part!)
2) Yes. We actually did TPM on a forklift, an air compressor and a cleaning tank! Anything that needs regular service/inspection can be included in a TPM program.
3) Most of the tasks were operator tasks. The maintenance department TPM tasks were generally the longer duration (6 month, yearly) tasks that just cant be done by the operator, such as opening up a motor and replacing brushes, anything in the electrical cabinets, etc. During the TPM workshop, we agreed as a group which tasks should go in which bucket.
4) The operators were trained "on the job" by the most experienced person that was previously trained in that task. Sometimes it was a maintence guy, some times it was a senior operator. On a few occasions, we had to have the original machine maintenance guys come in and do training
Ryan: As I stated in #3 above, this is about 80% operator driven.
