I have contracted with a local university in the Denver metropolitan area to teach a Lean in Healthcare course--on-line! I am very excited, and there has already been quite a bit of student (distant and local) interest. I also work in a Denver healthcare system as a leader in performance improvement.
I will be covering the following topics (following the ASQ/SME Lean BOK):
Enablers of Lean:
Applcation of tools in core operations:
Tools and concepts such as SIPOC, A3 (have been following the on-line discussion on the uses of A3), 5S, Visual workplace, VSA, Kaizen and RIE. Students will be asked to complete a personal diary on their learnings as well as weekly on-line discussion forums.
Application or tools in support operations
I would like to use some of the videos from this site as well as others. Can anyone provide any additional short video sites? This is meant to be hands on and very interactive. Has anyone else taught a class like this? What are the lessons learned? Any other suggestions or ideas? I really want to ignite student learning and change their thinking about improvement so your suggestions are very welcomed! Thank you.

In doing some research on line, I ran across a video showing a simple, visual way to identify clean IV pumps. Google videos with Christopher Mullins, GE Healthcare, and you should be able to find it. He also has some neat 5S pictures.

I am glad to hear that you will be teaching Healthcare Lean course at the university level. I would like to know the name of the university in Denver so I could sign up for the online course on the Healthcare Lean.
