Hi all,
I am thinking about how to eliminating waiting time in our daily life and to conduct a lean life.
Such as we have to wait in resuurant for our orders or seats if you not order fast food. Now people are starting web for booking seats, my questions, if people booked but do not firm its booking, how can we manage this ? If this happens ,how can this web(or company )to survive , it caused wasteto resurtant resouces and waste of people booking and arrangement), how can we oversee this and minize waste to get win-win situation? or we just leave it and feel confidence most of people will firm this order.
It should be equal in lean production, we apply to a forecast, but forecast is not firm, how can we mange to this variance. and minizing waste of both equipment , cash flow ,overheads for this.

Hi mark,
As everything we do is a process then waste occurs in everything. With ref to your question how does this differ to the doctors or booking your car in for a service, I believe these to be the same if you were to go introduce this in your restaurant and as long as your satisfy the customers when they are there then all will be ok.
I visited a restaurant last week where we booked a table over the phone and ordered our meals for a set time. When we arrived they took us to our table and our drinks orders, by the time the drinks arrived our first course was on the table.
I'd be happy to offer any help I can if you require
Cheers and good luck

Mark,
If you want to start a lean life, then it starts first with respect for people in your family and personal life.
2nd get rid of all your credit cards, and try to pay off all your debts.
If you are not happy with the restaurant talk to the owner/manager and suggest improvements. If not go somewhere that treats you better. Your business is what they want. Every company has to make decisions, some are good, some are bad. There is no 100% solution that we should try to impose on all except mutual respect.
When I watch the show, Hells Kitchen, I can not believe people go and eat there, based on how poorly he treats his employees. Seems like a recipe for disaster, but it works for him.
In the end open your own if you think you can do it better.

Have you read "follow the learner"?
It is about a doctor who was having the same problem and how he solved it
Very interesting,
He was working with kanban to control the variability...
You can buy in this website...
