'In order to manage, we need to measure'...
We are interested in developing an objective way to score an organization's adoption of Lean philosophy. We are seeking to balance the measurement of Lean adoption with the score card measures that quantify the results of the Lean work. Perhaps measuring the adoption and not the results is a misguided exercise. However, we are interested in providing Leadership with an objective way to reach out and encourage teams to continue the journey.
There are a few White Papers on this topic, but I am very interested in hearing experiences (good and bad) and would love to see examples of the measures used as indicators of 'adoption'.

Jeff,
The best way to measure business results is to look at the classic business metrics. The best way to see if those results are the result of Lean or something else is to go to Gemba. It's really that simple.

If you haven't already done so, encourage leadership to go to the Gemba and observe first hand what is happening. That is the best way to reach out to the teams. Measurement is not so much the key, understanding is.
