This workshop consists of two modules:
- Module 1 covers the fundamentals of Lean, a Lean IT overview, information waste, critical tools and concepts of Lean applied to IT, and an information waste case study.
- Module 2 demonstrates value streams and the role of IT through an IT-centric value stream mapping exercise, addressing principles and practical application of Lean IT operations, inward and outward facing Lean IT, Lean software development, and Lean project management.

Mike is Adjunct Professor with The Shingo Prize and on the teaching faculty of LEI. As president of the management consulting firm that bears his name, Mike is at the forefront of the Lean I.T. movement, helping to educate companies on how to use I.T. to improve the quality and timeliness of I.T. services while reducing cost and even improving employee morale.
He delivers a unique blend of Lean, Six Sigma, I.T. and Operation and has been coaching and consulting and coaching for over 20 years. Mike holds certifications in Management Accounting, Production and Inventory Control, Project Management, Six Sigma and Agile.
As co-author of the award-winning book, “Lean I.T. – Enabling and Sustaining Your Lean Transformation,” his experience includes the application of Lean to non-manufacturing and manufacturing environments including Lean Office, I.T., Accounting, Legal, Engineering, Procurement, Supply-Chain, HR and Customer Service processes. His experience includes systems design, application development, global ERP implementations, enterprise-wide process improvement, and large-scale roll out of Lean Enterprise initiatives for global companies as guide and coach.

Steve Bell is the founder of Lean IT Strategies, LLC, coaching IT professionals as they partner with their business colleagues to meet the challenges and exploit the opportunities in the rapidly changing, technology-enabled business landscape. His newest book, Run Grow Transform: Integrating Business and Lean IT, (Productivity Press, 2012) illustrates how to leverage transformative IT capabilities into enterprise value streams to drive innovation and create market-differentiating customer value. He is the co-author of Lean IT: Enabling and Sustaining Your Lean Transformation (Productivity Press, 2010) which received the 2011 Shingo Prize for Research and Professional Publication. He is the author of Lean Enterprise Systems: Using IT for Continuous Improvement (Wiley, 2006) which first introduced the term "Lean IT" in publication. This book focuses on the proper application of ERP and other enterprise-wide systems in a Lean environment. In addition to his work leading Lean IT transformation, Steve is actively involved in the Non-profit and NGO community.
