Job Instruction Card
These cards were given to all supervisors attending TWI’s Job Instruction training program. The front of the card outlines four steps for getting ready to instruct; the back outlines the four-step method for how to instruct. Supervisors were expected to carry the pocket-sized cards at all times as a reference.

Job Methods Card
Job Methods training gave supervisors a four-step technique to make practical, as opposed to technical, improvements in work areas. As in Job Instruction training, a summary of the Jobs Method technique was printed on cards and given to supervisors. Note the similarity to today’s approach to kaizen.

Job Relations (top) and Program Development Cards
As with the other two “J” programs, a four-step method was used to develop the Job Relations procedure and a card summarizing the process was given to supervisors in the training classes. Training consisted of explaining the steps through everyday case studies involving a fictitious supervisor and an employee. Each supervisor had to apply the process at work and report the results back to the class. Program Development was the last service that TWI implemented. It showed plants how to set-up and administer training within their own facility using their own people, using a four-step method.
