"You can't use lean methods to downsize your staff," says Ken Tremblay, CEO, Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Ontario, where lean management has improved service and cut costs totaling nearly $27 million, the equivalent of more than 182 full-time jobs. The hospital has reduced supply costs and increased capacity, which generated revenue by bringing in more patients.
