Day 1 AM
Introductions that include an overview of what each participant and their organization is doing in lean

Jim Womack presents the Lean Enterprise Institute’s point-of-view concerning the importance of aligning the purpose, processes and people of the organization to provide value to customers.  He also discusses lean leadership versus lean tools and how lean leaders behave in a different fashion.

Day 1 PM
Facilitated group discussion around common organizational problems with lean implementation including:

• Event driven programs rather than need driven change
• Spot optimization activities reinforced by measurement systems rather than systems thinking
• Lean used as an efficiency or cost reduction “program” rather than a growth strategy and business system
• Lean as an “add-on”, extra work program rather than an integral part of the organization’s strategy and people development process

Day 2 AM
Using lean thinking and lean management, what does a “day in the life” of senior executives look like?  A practical look at and advice on:

• How to look at your organization through “lean eyes”.  How to take a genba walk
• How to set and review priorities and proposals
• How to solve problems
• How to implement initiatives and get things done

A discussion of the challenges faced in identifying, adopting, teaching and encouraging different leadership behaviors.

Day 2 PM
Jim Womack brings together all the ideas of the program with his reflections on what he has heard and experienced the last two days as well as his views on:

• The challenges that leaders face
• The need for fundamentally different leadership thinking and behavior
• The payoff in creating sustainable business results through people
