'Twas the Night Before Kaizen
by Joshua RapozaIf lean elves wrote 'Twas the Night Before Christmas... (How would you finish this version?)
'Twas the night before kaizen, and all through the line
Elves were all working, just making takt time.
Visual boards were hung on the wall with great care,
With hopes that team leaders soon would also be there.
New elves asked questions, wondering whatever to expect
While targets and specs bounced 'round in their heads
And boss in his grandpa jeans, me in my Red Sox cap,
Had just sat down to reworking that value stream map
When out of the blue arose such a clatter!
I raced to the line to see what was the matter
Away to the andon I flew like a flash!
Observed the work closely, explored each defect
Asking question by question, and showing respect...
Merry Christmas and happy holidays from all of us at The Lean Enterprise Institute!
