Engagement and Elephants: How Lean Changed the San Diego Zoo

Jeff Foster had his work cut out for him when he arrived at the San Diego Zoo as Director of Performance Improvement. He had an enormous task ahead in bringing lean to the Zoo's operations, especially seeing as he had no experience in such environments. Could his extensive lean background in the corporate world somehow apply to the Zoo?

It could, and it did. In this exclusive video from the 2017 Lean Transformation Summit, Foster dishes on some of his experiences implementing lean at the San Diego Zoo. You'll learn:

  • How Foster's lean approach in his prior corporate engagements applied to the zoo's environment
  • A tool Foster introduced to bolster engagement and communication between levels and silos
  • Foster's advice for any lean professional to create and sustain change in any organization
  • And more.
