Mark is a lean expert and independent consultant with over 10 years experience helping organizations adopt lean management principles and practices. He spent 8 years in the Operations Practice at the global consulting firm, McKinsey & Co. and authored numerous articles including ‘Transforming Government Performance through Lean Management’ with McKinsey Center for Government. He was also a faculty member with McKinsey’s Global Lean Academy. Working with clients in the US, Middle East, and Asia, he has facilitated successful lean and organizational transformation efforts in a wide range of government and for-profit sectors to include aerospace and defense, manufacturing, financial services, IT service, and housing.
Mark believes all kinds of organizations can benefit from applying lean. He helps leaders and managers in organizations improve their abilities to lead change and manage for continuous improvement. He helps teams at all levels in an organization see their work in new ways and discover simpler and more innovative ways to serve customers and add value. He ensures client teams find success in small, daily efforts yet also helps leaders build programs and capabilities needed to scale lean practices across large, complex organizations. Mark holds engineering degrees from the US Naval Academy as well as the University of California at Berkeley. He is six sigma black belt trained. Mark also spent over 6 years as an officer in the US Navy. He is currently based in Washington, D.C.
