After nearly two decades of trying, LEI has decided to switch its nonprofit mission of making things better through lean thinking and practice to achieving better quality in bar entertainment, and will rename itself the Lounge Entertainment Institute. Why? Turns out attention to process and problem solving, strategy deployment, creating products and services customers actually want, respect for people... those things are just really, really tricky. Whereas good entertainment… now, who doesn’t like that?
Why lounge entertainment? LEI wanted to keep their name LEI. "It was a very organic change,” a rep said. "We think our community members will be excited about it."
The Institute plans to switch gears quickly, as early as next month. They're trading in A3s and Value Stream Maps for powder blue polyester suits. They've built a great team and plan to make a real splash in the industry.
LEI’s first publication under the new mantle Lounge Entertainment Institute will be “Learning to Sing (Poorly)” and will focus on the three fundamentals of lounge entertainment: Chest hair, Gold Chains, and Style. LEI will print 1 million copies in its first run, confident enough readers will follow.
