Learning by Doing: Insights from Leading a World-Class Lean Program

Previously, as Lean Programme Manager at Kongsberg Maritime for 5 years, Daryl led the design and deployment of the company's lean programme – The KONGSBERG Way – across operations in Norway, Germany, Spain, the UK, Canada and the USA. As Vice President of Operations at Hydroid – a subsidiary of Kongsberg Maritime located in the USA – Derek has been actively involved in the global lean transformation of KM Subsea.

Together, Daryl and Derek will provide valuable insights into corporate lean programmes, the pros and cons of lean assessments, the importance of lean leadership (including the significance of Gemba walks), and the criticality of adopting an enterprise-wide view of value stream management – beyond the shopfloor.

"Lean is different. It's just how we do things around here now" said the Continuous Improvement Engineer at Hydroid Inc. during a recent Gemba walk in Pocasset, MA. Be prepared to start thinking differently about lean!
