Coaching Collaboration: Using Workflow to Diffuse Bad Politics

Wed, Apr 8, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
$600 (summit attendees)
$800 (workshop only)

This one day class will look at common cultural anti-patterns and provide some direct, simple, and collaborative systems to diffuse them. Based on experiences in companies around the world, one of which is described in Victoria Swann's presentation at this conference, Jim Benson will discuss his experiences with learned helplessness, combative work-flows, destructive prioritization schemes, and perverse incentives. This course directly relates to the frustration that all Lean coaches feel when the culture of an organization is indifferent to or actively rejects positive change from within or from outside.

In this one-day immersive experience we will explore the impact of overload on both the individual and the team; politics and "work-arounds" that start quietly and quickly morph into unwritten rules; and smooth work-, information-, and communication-flows that can lead to happier, less stressed, and more effective teams.
