Real Applications, Not Just Concepts
We design our workshops to answer the question many of you have about lean concepts, "What concrete steps do I take on Monday morning to begin implementing?"

So we teach you actual applications, not just concepts, in plain language with the case studies, worksheets, formulas, and methodologies you need. You learn step-by-step methodologies for implementing and making the critical leap from the conventional business focus on optimizing individual processes to the value-stream focus of optimizing the flow of value. No wonder our workshops have a reputation for practical and comprehensive content.

Please Note:  All workshops are one-day and are $800 unless otherwise noted. Price includes all participant materials, breakfast, lunch, and snacks. There is a discount for one person attending more than one workshop at one location. The price for one person attending two (one-day) workshops is $1400. The price for three workshops is $2100.

  • An Introduction to Using the A3 Management Method This workshop provides a historical overview of the use of A3 reports within Toyota, a model for the thinking process that generates A3 reports, an interactive opportunity to develop and refine an actual A3. As well as methods for ensuring that the A3 process goes beyond being just a tool to becoming a way of thinking and managing.

  • Change Agent Skills  Learn how to lead others to and through implementation of lean change activities by persuasion, influence, demonstration, negotiation, and teaching. Workshop price: $1600 (2-day session).
  • Coaching Skills for Lean Implementation Leaders Leaders and change agents will discover how to apply the "sensei approach" in leading a lean implementation project by using preparation, practice, adjustment and review to give responsibility for thinking and making changes to the people who have to implement and maintain the improvements.

  • NewCreating a Sustainable Lean Culture Process-improvement tools are important, but their ultimate effectiveness depends on your ability to develop an underlying unique culture to support continuous growth and improvement. This workshop explores the foundations of Toyota’s unique culture and helps you develop an action plan to support the transition from conventional to lean culture.
  • Creating Continuous Flow Create continuous flow — not fake flow — at the pacemaker process and in other production cells by focusing on the human factors of the operation and how to balance the work to takt time.
  • Creating Level Pull This introduction to the basics of leveling and pull gives you the essential information you need to design and implement a basic end-to-end pull system with kanban and a leveled schedule at the pacemaker process.
  • Getting the Right Things Done - A Leader's Guide to Strategy Deployment  A major problem in a lean transformation is taking on too many initiatives at once. Policy Deployment guides you in "de-selecting" initiatives down to the ones the organization can really achieve while aligning them with company strategic objectives. Workshop price:$1600 (2-day session).
  • Lean Accounting: The Switch from Batch to Flow  To sustain a lean transformation, top executive and financial managers must know how to transform routine accounting practices to a new system that not only is lean itself but also supports lean practices.
  • Lean Logistics Apply lean principles to the inbound and outbound logistics network in order to reduce transportation and warehousing costs by as much as 25% and inventories at all levels by as much as 50%. You’ll also learn how to calculate, manage, and reduce the key metric of “total logistics costs.”
  • Lean Supply Chain Management Improve customer satisfaction and supplier performance by expanding the  lean transformation beyond the four walls of a production facility, using such tools as extended value-stream mapping, pull, and supplier measurement and accountability systems.
  • Lean Warehousing Implementation Learn how to begin implementing lean principles step-by-step into a warehouse, using techniques such as lean storage, operational diagramming, standardized work, workload planning, and visual management. Workshop price: $1600 (2-day session).
  • Lean Warehousing Introduction Learn how to create the right preconditions for implementing lean in a warehouse by analyzing current volumes, performance, capacity and workforce allocation at a detailed level.
  • NewMade to Order Lean: Excelling in High Mix, Low Volume Environment An overall implementation method specific for low volume and make to order businesses, along with specialized applications of lean tools. Not only will the focus be on the shop floor, but improvement methods for the office and administrative functions as well.
  • Making Materials Flow How to implement, sustain, and improve  a dependable material-handling system for purchased parts using pull, timed delivery routes, a central supermarket, and a Plan for Every Part.
  • Problem Solving Harness the DNA of successful, sustainable lean implementations. You'll practice the Toyota approach to problem solving -- the PDCA (plan-do-check-act) method -- and understand the deep-seated cultural aspects of creating an organization that thrives on surfacing and solving problem.
  • Product Development  Learn how a product development process minimizes lead-time while maximizing knowledge growth about the product, customer, and manufacturing through tools such as rapid learning cycles and set-based concurrent development. You’ll also be introduced to a value-stream mapping method created specifically to deal with the complexities inherent in product development. Workshop price: $1600 (2-day session).
  • Standardized Work: The Foundation for Kaizen  Standardized work is one of the most powerful but least used lean tool. Learn how documenting the current best practice (standardized work) forms the baseline for kaizen or continuous improvement.
  • Managing Value-Stream Improvement Projects - Beyond Maps to Transformation: Most organizations are able to produce current-state maps, but many struggle with the process for creating future-state maps and corresponding implementation plans. This workshop will cover the tools and methods used to implement the future state as well as methods for creating a value-stream focus in your organization.Workshop price: $1600 (2-day session).
  • Value-Stream Mapping for Manufacturing Enterprises (formerly Value-Stream Mapping) Learn how to use this fundamental initial step in a lean transformation to create the "blueprints" for applying other tools and targeting kaizen events most effectively.
  • Value Stream Mapping for Office and Service   (formerly Business Process Value-Stream Mapping) Understand how to adapt the value-stream mapping tool to administrative, professional, and transactional activities
