Lean IT at Toyota Motor Europe
by Lean LeaperIn October, lean thinkers, coaches, and practitioners gathered at the 4th annual Lean IT Summit in Paris. Attendees heard from Dan Jones (Lean Enterprise Academy in the UK, co-author of Lean Thinking), Mary Poppendieck (pioneer of lean software development), Jeff Sutherland (co-creator of Scrum), and many more. Pierre Masai, VP of Information Systems and CIO at Toyota Motor Europe, presented on one-piece-flow for IT.
In this interview with Planet Lean, Masai speaks to the shared roots of Agile and Scrum in the Toyota Production System and how these communities are learning from each other. He reflects on the unique needs of the IT customer and addresses the question of if/how to adapt certain methodologies and tools. His biggest piece of advice to lean and agile change agents in information technology? Start small, show your results, and of course... persevere.
