KATA CREATES CULTURE

Tilo Schwarz and his team at Festool (Germany) used practice of the Improvement Kata & Coaching Kata routines to make improvement part of everyone's daily work, and earned two European operational excellence awards in the process. In this 30-minute presentation from LEI Hungary's Lean Summit, Tilo shows how IK+CK is a management system that increases scientific problem solving ability through practice of specific behaviors. LEI Hungary is the newest Lean Global Network member.

Tilo Schwarz is a leadership / management trainer and Kata Coach who supports organizations in developing cultures of continuous improvement and innovation. From 2006 to 2012 he was Plant Manager at Festool GmbH, where he introduced Toyota Kata as the main management pattern. Tilo and his management team won the 2008 A.T. Kearny „Plant of the Year“ award, and the second-place 2011 WHU/INSEAD “”Industrial Excellence Award.“ From 2003 to 2006 Tilo worked with Festool Engineering GmbH as a consultant in Lean process optimization, conducting projects at several client companies.
