On Lean Production’s 25th Anniversary: Candid Reflections

At the 2013 AME (Association for Manufacturing Excellence) conference three management thought leaders (Jim Womack, Dan Jones, and John Shook) sat down for a wide ranging conversation about Lean’s current and future states.

At the recent AME conference, which coincided with the 25th anniversary of “lean production” getting its name, three management thought leaders sat down for a wide ranging conversation about Lean’s current and future states.

James Womack, who led the MIT research team that coined “lean production IN 1988,” Dan Jones, chairman of the UK Lean Academy, and John Shook, CEO of the nonprofit Lean Enterprise Institute, discussed “lean-shoring,” lean healthcare, the real work of managers, the lean startup movement, and much more.

The videographers at Gemba Academy captured it all and edited the discussion into 11 segments, which we are sharing on LEI’s YouTube channel. Watch part 1 of the discussion here.
