Coaching to the Challenge (1 Day Class)

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognize the key factors that contribute to effective coaching
  • Identify different types of coaching styles & when to use them

Description:

How to respond, as a coach, in high-stress situations? How to develop capability in workers and keep the company afloat in a crisis? How to take action without taking away responsibility? What different coaching methods exist and when is it appropriate to use them?

Facilitators Laura and Mark will guide you through these questions as you experience an immersive simulation in which managers and workers are confronted with a crisis situation and need to determine which type of coaching to use when. We will explore the following coaching triad in more depth throughout the class:

Coaching Triad

Which corner of the triangle do you most rely on currently? In what situation would you use a different style? What do these three styles have in common?

Agenda:

1-hour introduction – Training and orientation for simulation.

PS Simulation – This simulation is designed around a manufacturing process, but the lessons are universal for coaches who develop workers as part of their job.  You will experience several rounds, each carefully designed to elicit key points and build your coaching skills. This highly adaptive scenario allows the facilitators to cater to your learning needs and level of understanding.

Between rounds, you will have time to reflect and check your understanding, providing you with a solid foundation for the next round of learning.

Target Audience:

  • Line managers, from managers, directors to vise presidents and other executives
  • Staff resources for coaching, problem-solving, quality, and continuous improvement

Warning: We are creating a stressful environment that allows you to practice coaching under these conditions. Strong language may be used.
