Laura Mottola

A seasoned professional mining engineer and business leader with over 25 years of global experience across industries, Laura is recognized globally as a leader in Lean Mining®, operational excellence, and lean transformation in the natural resource sector. In addition to her dedication to lean thinking and practice, she’s devoted her career to integrating systems thinking, circular economy, and other concepts to develop multidisciplinary approaches and strategies to solving complex problems.

Laura is passionate about creating value, increasing productivity, and improving social and environmental responsibility and teamwork in organizations. She brings the multidimensional leadership and vision needed to generate dynamic and diverse opportunities across industry sectors.

Laura, a member of the Lean Enterprise Institute’s faculty, regularly teaches the Hoshin Kanri Remotely course. She also cofounded the Lean Institute Canada and is the founder of the Lean Mining® Institute and Flow Partners, Inc., which is now part of the BBA Group, a Canadian engineering consulting firm.

Notably, Laura was named one of the 100 most inspirational women in mining by Women in Mining UK (2013). She holds a Master of Engineering in Mining Automation from McGill University.
